Former Archbishop Molloy H.S., Briarwood, standout Mike Baxter was called back up to the New York Mets Saturday after third baseman David Wright was placed on the 15-day disabled list.
Baxter had been playing for the Mets’ Triple-A affiliate, the Las Vegas 51’s.
In 42 games for Las Vegas, Baxter hit .275 with five home runs and 15 RBI. In 47 games earlier this season with the Mets, the Whitestone native and former parishioner at St. Luke’s parish hit .212 with four RBI.
