Mass of Inclusion

IMG_0060

Holy Name Church, Park Slope, was the scene of the annual Mass for those served by the Catholic Charities Office for Persons with Disabilities. Closed captioning was provided for those having difficulty seeing; Sign language assisted the hard of hearing; and ramps made the church and altar accessible to those in wheelchairs. Concelebrants included Father James Sweeney, parochial vicar, and Father James Bradley, advocate for persons with disabilities. In his homily, Father Sweeney told the congregation that no one wants to be sick but that dealing with suffering and striving to one’s best can be a path to holiness because it unites people with the suffering of Jesus.
