Archbishop Gintaras Grušas of Vilnius, Lithuania, visited the Diocese of Brooklyn earlier this month, when he celebrated Mass at the Church of Annunciation, Williamsburg, and attended a meeting at St. Stanislaus – Transfiguration Church, Maspeth, about aid for the Church in Lithuania.
At the June 2 Mass, Archbishop Grušas conferred the sacrament of confirmation. The Mass was concelebrated by Msgr. Jamie Gigantiello, the pastor of Our Lady of Mount Carmel and Annunciation of the Blessed Virgin Mary parish, and Father Vytautas Volertas, coordinator of the ethnic ministry for Lithuanians in the diocese and a parochial vicar at St. Stanislaus Kostka – Transfiguration, which has a Mass in Lithuanian every Sunday.
Following the confirmation Mass, a reception and luncheon were held in honor of Archbishop Grušas, the confirmandi and their families. Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio attended the reception.
