Lifeless Conversation

The comments from Dr. Deborah Nucatola of Planned Parenthood concerning the obtaining of fetal tissue from abortions have served as a wake-up call to many Americans.

Abortion is murder, period. It is a horrific act that harms both mother and child, as well as the father of the child and society in general. The casual manner in which Dr. Nucatola, as compassionate as she might believe she is in her abortion providing, simply exhibits just how numb she must be to the reality of the slaughter of children in the womb.

The thought that, in some manner, the organs of these tiny victims are being harvested, without the consent of the parent, is repulsive, even for those that are supporters of the practice of abortion. Planned Parenthood is a business, and, like any business, cares about the bottom line. Dr. Nucatola, in the transcript of her conversation taken from the Center for Medical Progress, states:

“Yeah, you know, I don’t think it’s a reservations issue so much as a perception issue, because I think every provider has had patients who want to donate their tissue, and they absolutely want to accommodate them. They just want to do it in a way that is not perceived as, ‘This clinic is selling tissue, this clinic is making money off of this.’ I know in the Planned Parenthood world they’re very, very sensitive to that. And before an affiliate is gonna do that, they need to, obviously, they’re not – some might do it for free – but they want to come to a number that doesn’t look like they’re making money. They want to come to a number that looks like it is a reasonable number for the effort that is allotted on their part. I think with private providers, private clinics, they’ll have much less of a problem with that…You know, I would throw a number out, I would say it’s probably anywhere from $30 to $100 (per specimen), depending on the facility and what’s involved. It just has to do with space issues, are you sending someone there who’s going to be doing everything, is there shipping involved, is somebody gonna have to take it out. ”

Reasonable people need to wake up and see what is going on. One does not have to be a person of faith to know that this practice is wrong. It goes against reason; it flies in the face of natural law, and is an affront to human dignity.

Charity must be present in all things and one should read the entire transcript of the interview. But these comments however they were obtained, are real. And they are really, really disgusting. It brings to light, in a world so confused, so twisted that the culture of death seems to be overshadowing the culture of life, the reality of the murder that goes on in abortion clinics daily. What’s being said in this interview is so wrong whether one is coming from a pro-life or a pro-abortion perspective.

It’s ironic that in New York City, around the corner from Planned Parenthood in Greenwich Village is the Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen Center for Thought and Culture. Death and life; right and wrong, all on the same city block. Welcome to New York in the 21st century.

The dignity of these murdered children, created in the image and likeness of God, our smallest brothers and sisters, has been violated. Perhaps this interview with Dr. Nucatola can serve as a clarion call to this reality: Every life is sacred, from conception to natural death.
