Kudos to Father Lauder
Dear Editor: Every week, I wait for The Tablet to arrive in my mailbox.
I enjoy reading it every week.
Father Robert Lauder’s column is one of my favorites.
I was especially happy to read his article (“My Experiences Bearing Witness to Faith in Action,” Nov. 1).
To know that he has put his faith into action by attending the recent “No Kings” protest and his previous actions in 1963 with the March on Washington with Dr. Martin Luther King was wonderful.
I hope that his good example will influence other people and clergy to take part in future peaceful demonstrations.

Remembering Father Luke Wei
Dear Editor: He was a wonderful priest. I remember him well from Our Lady of Refuge.
I will pray for the repose of his soul.

Thank You for the Wartime Recollection
Dear Editor: I am grateful for Bill Miller’s review of Maria Laurino’s “The Price of Children: Stolen Lives in a Land Without Choice,” (“Msgr. Landi’s Legacy ‘Nuanced’ for War Relief Efforts, Adoption Program.” Nov. 8).
Laurino rightly presumes Msgr. Landi’s good intentions in his attempt to save supposed orphans from post- World War II Italy.
In 1981, I needed a dispensation from the impediment of illegitimacy to be ordained a priest because my birthmother was unwed.
And like the ‘orphans’ adopted through Msgr. Landi, my birth certificate was sealed, denying me the right to my natal identity.

Gun Control Could Help Our Young Men
Dear Editor: In the editorial, (“Let Us Rescue Our Sons From Extremism,” Nov. 15), you failed to mention guns as a factor in this growing phenomenon.
Guns and mental illness are the current issues. In the United States, there are more guns than people, and that is among the registered gun owners.
As a country, we have the highest rate of gun ownership of any other country. These are frightening statistics coupled with the fact that our children are not safe in their schools.
Our mental health care is dismal. If we could do more for mental health and stem the sale of guns, I believe that would be a great way to curtail some of these senseless acts of gun violence.
The devil isn’t going anywhere, and there will always be people who will follow him. We just don’t have to put the tools in their hands.

Going Digital
Dear Editor: It has become increasingly difficult for me to read the paper edition of The Tablet.
My guess is that a number of people who read The Tablet might be “older” citizens, as I am.
In conversation with Msgr. Sean Ogle, I mentioned my optical problems and inquired whether The Tablet would consider a digital approach.
He immediately let me know that a digital copy is indeed available.
Nifty!
With his help, and despite my lack of ‘tech’ expertise, I found my way.
Thanks for the digital copy. I have miles to go before I go to sleep.
