Letters to the Editor

Letters to the Editor, Week of May 23, 2026

Thank You for ‘Pray the Way’ Article

Dear Editor: Thank you for the article (“Pray The Way”) in the May 16 edition of The Tablet that gave a great, detailed synopsis of the apparitions of Our Lady of Champion to Adele Brise in 1859.

This is the first, and only, official Marian apparition site in the United States approved by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops and the Vatican.

Many Catholics in the U.S. may know about Lourdes, Fatima, Knock, or Guadalupe but they have never heard about Adele Brice and the story of Mary’s three apparitions in Champion, Wisconsin.

Mary told Adele, “I am the Queen of Heaven who prays for the conversion of sinners.”

She also told Adele, “Do not be afraid. I will help you” after charging Adele with tasks to bring the Good News of Jesus Christ to others.

The cause for canonization for Adele Brise, the humble seer of Our Lady of Champion, has officially begun as of January 2026.

We wish to thank our pastor, Father Kevin Abels of Our Lady of Angels Church, Bay Ridge, for establishing a place of devotion to honor Our Lady of Champion and to pray to hasten Adele’s canonization.

Celebrating Essential Catholic Outreach

Dear Editor: The story about the teenage scout who is helping her community (“College Point Outreach Brings Hope to Homeless”) is such a wonderful thing.

God bless this sister and the volunteers. The Catholic Church does so much for many communities, here and abroad!

Honoring America’s Fallen Heroes on Memorial Day

Dear Editor: With eternal gratitude, may we honor the memory of the God-inspired devotion to freedom lived, fought, and died for by the Armed Forces of the United States of America.

May our Loving Father forever bless and rest their mighty souls.

“Let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe to assure the survival and the success of liberty.” — John F. Kennedy, Inauguration Jan. 20, 1961
