Currents News’ Great America 250 Coverage
Dear Editor: My wife and I recently watched the America 250 faith special (“America at 250: The Faith Story,” Currents News, June 26).
It was excellent! Each segment/story could have been an hour long!
Excellent work. We hope you can do more of these specials.
Keep up the great work and God bless.

Defibrillators Important for Diocesan Churches
Dear Editor: Recently, The Tablet wrote an article about how a defibrillator saved a woman’s life (“Heart Attack Victim Reunites With Church Heroes
Who Saved Her Life,” July 18).
I would like to propose that the Diocese of Brooklyn look into putting defibrillators in every church in the diocese.
I think if it is suggested for the diocese, we could get donations.
We need to be prepared to save not only souls but lives in our parishes.

Thank You for Honoring Detective Sgt. Sheridan
Dear Editor: Thank you for featuring me in the story about Detective Sgt. JohnSheridan’s grave marker and bringing his tragic death to people’s attention so many years after his passing (“NYPD Detective Killed in 1902 Receives Headstone,” Currents News, Aug. 12).
I would also like to thank you for making people aware of the fact that so many heroes’ graves are unmarked.
Reporter Katie Vasquez did an outstanding job. You could tell she was genuinely interested. She is probably one of the most professional reporters I have had the pleasure of working with. She really went above and beyond.

Mary Powell’s Heartfelt Column on Grief
Dear Editor: Mary Powell’s recent column was like a miracle on top of my altar in my bedroom (“Why Is a Sibling’s Grief Invisible?” Aug. 1 & 8).
I don’t remember putting it there, and it appeared to me after going through a rollercoaster of emotions after learning that my younger sister had a biopsy to screen for cancer.
God has been merciful and I didn’t drown in my feelings. Thanks to the Holy Divine Child, my heart kept praying.
That night, my heart wanted a message that all would be OK and that same night I found the page of The Tablet with Mary Powell’s column. It struck me hard, but I was courageous and read it.
I learned that God hears me and that he knows the pain I am enduring for him.
Please pray for my sister and me.

Faith & Food in Woodside
Dear Editor: I went to St. Sebastian Catholic Academy, so I was part of the church.
I was in the choir and was an altar server.
Donovan’s Pub was the go-to place and is the best (“St. Sebastian Church, Donovan’s Pub Both Stand as Pillars in Woodside,” story, page 3).
It has a great, warm, family feel once you’re inside, and the best burgers, hands down. The “Woodsider” and the “Sunnyside” are amazing.
It’s definitely a landmark to the community.
