Labor Vs. Students

Dear Editor: This is my reaction to Richard Trumka’s Up Front and Personal column (June 20) as to why the labor movement is against school vouchers.

Parents who want to send their children to non-government schools come in a distant second to profit. Is the organized labor movement a “refuge against the injustice – of forcing parents to send their children to a school not in accordance with their wishes?” Where is the “healing spirit of compassion” for those parents?

Please request Mr. Trumka to lead his membership to be consistent with the tone of his article to support parents with school vouchers.
