Letters to the Editor

Kudos From Pro-Lifers

Dear Editor: Great photos and coverage in The Tablet of the March for Life in Washington, D.C., and Pro Vita Mass celebrated by Bishop DiMarzio.

Wonderful news, too, that DeSales Media sponsored 10 busses to the March!

The Diocese of Brooklyn is on the move – just wonderful.

Also, St. John’s University’s Campus Ministry had a chartered bus for students and seminarians leaving at 2 a.m. in order to arrive in Washington, D.C., for the 7:30 a.m. Mass. Wow!

Dear Editor: I would like to offer a statement of sincere gratitude and appreciation to those who made our journey to the March for Life so much easier. I speak of those at DeSales Media who provided the buses, red ID scarfs, backpacks and Rosaries. They made our day of dark memories, much, much, lighter. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

Kudos to Fred Trabulsi, director of Mother and Unborn Baby Care in Bay Ridge who dropped off a large bag of donuts for the St. Anselm’s bus group.

I also was happy to see that the Pro Vita Mass has been reestablished. Hope it continues, each year. I worked with Evelyn Aquila and then-Msgr. Vincent Breen on the Diocesan Pro-Life Committee to establish the Mass with Bishop Mugavero.

We and a few others were on the founding committee. I was an award recipient in 1993. One of the first awardees was Sen. Alfonse D’Amato. He was a no-show. Left the poor bishop standing on the altar. Just a little history.

Dear Editor: I’ve been going to the March for Life for the last 11 years or so (last year the snowstorm prevented me from attending since the buses were cancelled). This year my oldest son (20 years old) attended his first March, and he was amazed.

The march is getting younger and bigger. However the mainstream (liberal) media is completely ignoring it since it doesn’t fit their agenda. How can they miss 500,000 people or so?

A few years ago (2004 to approximately 2006) the N.Y. Daily News had a small blurb near the end of the paper, no pictures, etc. Now there is no coverage from them whatsoever.

Two years ago after Sandy Hook, there was a demonstration for Gun Control the day after the March. The N.Y. Daily News put the event attended by “almost one thousand demonstrators” on pages 4 and 5.

My wife watches the local news and of  course there was nothing again this year. I just hope that Congress passes HR 36 which would prevent abortions on babies older than 20 weeks since it has been proven that they feel pain. Just remember we have the truth on our side, we just have to keep on chipping away.
