Sheila O’Hagan McGirl, the director of institutional advancement at the Central Association of the Miraculous Medal in Philadelphia, Pa., and daughter of the late Al O’Hagan, is receiving the Kathleen Slattery Woman of the Year Award.
Previously, McGirl worked for the Diocese of Camden, N.J., as the associate director of development where she was responsible for fundraising efforts yielding nearly $10 million each year.
McGirl has achieved the distinction of certified fundraising executive (CFRE), an accreditation that recognizes high ethics and successful professional performance.
Her professional life and personal life intersect with her passion for Catholic education and Catholic Charities. She is the founder and chairperson of the Board of Trustees of the Catholic Business Network, a non-profit corporation that seeks to provide faith-filled networking for business women and men, with a mission to advance and promote Catholic education.
Married to Kevin McGirl for 29 years, the couple has four children: Kieran, 25, an Emmy Award-winning associate producer with Good Morning America; Siobhan, 23, on-air journalist with WDBJ7 CBS News in Roanoke, Va.; Sean, 19, a communications major at Rowan University, Glassboro, N.J., and Kayla, 12, a sixth grader at Our Lady of Hope Regional School in Blackwood, N.J.
