This year, Bishop Kearney H.S., Bensonhurst, has a new administration and a new look!
School President, Dr. Margaret Minson said: “There are a lot of changes at Bishop Kearney, but one of the most valuable is the appointment of Ms. Elizabeth Guglielmo as Principal.
“She is a gifted and talented educator with almost 20 years experience as a teacher and an administrator. She was formerly the assistant principal at Bayside High School, and she came to Kearney because of her strong belief in Catholic education.
“We’re very enthusiastic about our extensive facility upgrades and widely expanded learning opportunities, including our status as a ‘Google school,’ 1:1 Chromebook implementation, 46 new online course offerings, small-group college and career preparation for every student, financial literacy certification program, business partnerships, student internships and SMARTBoards in our classrooms.”
Bishop Kearney’s academic program offers a full range of Advanced Placement, Honors and Regents courses. The school offers a student-to-faculty ratio of 17:1, resource centers in every department, and more than 40 student clubs and activities including nine sports.
One hundred percent of the Class of 2014 attends college, 77 percent earned almost $20 million in academic scholarships and performed almost 20,000 hours of community service.
Bishop Kearney H.S. is a Catholic, college preparatory school for young women sponsored by the Sisters of St. Joseph, Brentwood, L.I.
