THE BARD OF THE FAIR
Irish Bards told the tales that preserved the history and traditions of Ireland in all of their “terrible beauty.” Irish poets, writers, singers, scholars and story tellers are universally recognized for their achievements. The Great Irish Fair recognizes a contemporary Bard who epitomizes the bardic devotion to the story of the Irish.

Michael Dolan is serving as the Bard of the Fair.
A proud, lifelong member of Sacred Hearts-St. Stephen parish, Carroll Gardens, Dolan traces his Irish roots back to County Cork.
He attended his parish school, Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary; Xaverian H.S., Bay Ridge; and New York University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in journalism and mass communication.
Dolan is the owner, editor and publisher of Athletes Quarterly magazine, an upscale lifestyle magazine for current and former professional athletes in the U.S.
Before founding Athletes Quarterly, Dolan served as a features editor for Details, a monthly men’s magazine published by Condé Nast, and as executive editor for FHM, a British monthly men’s lifestyle magazine. During his writing career, he has contributed features to such magazines as New York, Outside, Cosmopolitan, Maxim, Playboy, Men’s Journal and Wired.
His feature for Wired on the history of video games was made into a PBS Documentary, “The Video Game Revolution: The Future of Video Gaming,” for which he was a producer.
