Dear Editor: I am American born — from Staten Island, N.Y. Both pairs of my grandparents were born in Italy and speaking Italian and “broken” English were part of my growing up.

I studied Italian in high school and college, and married a man born in Naples, Italy.

I especially look forward to Father Vincenzo Cardilicchia’s Masses in Italian. Hearing Mass in our Italian language has inspired me and I looked forward to his daily Mass on NET TV.
