Recent Fontbonne Hall Academy, Bay Ridge, graduate Tara Muldoon swam one mile in a pool in Lynbrook, L.I., on Aug. 9 as part of Swim Across America’s “Making Waves to Fight Cancer” campaign.

She swam in memory of her grandparents, uncles and several close family friends who were lost to cancer.

The proceeds from this swim support cancer research at the Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center-SAA Laboratory, the Children’s Hospital at Montefiore and the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory.

In the past three years, Muldoon has raised $5,000 toward this cause.
