Flushing Girl Scouts Help Veterans

Junior Girl Scouts from St. Andrew Avellino’s Cadette Troop 4300 display socks and underwear they collected for veterans at St. Alban’s VA Living Center. People generously responded to the campaign for donations at the Flushing parish. In addition, the girl scouts distributed handmade friendship bracelets to the veterans. They also participated in the annual “Flags In” and “Flags Out” ceremonies on Memorial Day weekend at Long Island National Cemetery in Farmingdale. The parish has had Girl Scouts for over 50 years and this Cadette Troop is currently working toward the Silver Award, which is the highest honor cadettes can earn.
