The Fall Film Festival at Immaculate Conception Church, Astoria, gets underway this month. Films are shown at 7 p.m. in the lower church. Admission is free.
The schedule includes:
Nov. 10: “The Ninth Day,” a film by Volker Schlondorff; Speaker: Msgr. Fernando Ferrarese
Nov. 17: “Dead Man Walking,” with Susan Sarandon and Sean Penn; Speaker: Sister Peggy McCabe, Rikers Island chaplain
Nov. 24: “The Cardinal,” a film by Otto Preminger, Speaker: Father Michael Bruno, Ph.D., professor of Church History at St. Joseph’s Seminary.
The film festival is accredited by the diocesan Faith Formation Office and the Sacred Heart Institute.
