Eleanor Rossner, 104, died Feb. 8 in East Greenbush, N.Y., where she had been living. Born in Brooklyn, she was a member of St. Cecilia’s parish, Greenpoint, where she joined the choir in 1928, and sang there for 71 years.
“She sang for that church, not just in the choir, but at most of the weddings for decades,” recalled Tom Sexton, a former organist at St. Cecilia’s. “She told stories of the parish when it had gas lights before electric, and when the choir membership was in the hundreds and performed with orchestra.”
A funeral Mass was celebrated Feb. 12 Holy Spirit Church, East Greenbush.
