St. Anastasia’s Spanish Prayer Group in Douglaston meets every Thursday at 7 p.m. in the parish. They celebrate the Marian Cenacle every second Thursday of every month and the Cenacle of the Divine Mercy the last Thursday of every month. The group is organized through the efforts of María Elisa Acevedo. Each member has consecrated him or herself to being apostles of the Divine Mercy. With this devotion, they wish to share the power of God’s mercy with the world.

This week’s Tip of the Tablet TALK Top Hat goes to Andrew LaBarbara and Stephanie Campanella. LaBarbara graduated from Our Lady of Grace Catholic Academy, Gravesend, last year and his outstanding essay on his favorite teacher from the academy, Campanella, helped her earn the Xavier High School Ignatian Educator Award.

Eleanor Sommero is the newest member to enter her ninth decade at the Golden Age Club at Our Lady of Mercy Church in Forest Hills. Fran Sidlo and Gloria Mack, recent ninth decade inductees, welcomed Sommero with the Queen for a Day birthday crown at last week’s regular meeting. Sommero attributed living in Forest Hills to her many years. She frequently walks, keeps active and stays involved with the Church.
