SFX Choir Praises Mary in Park Slope

On Sunday, May 13 the choir at St. Francis Xavier Parish in Park Slope, gave the premiere performance of “Ave Maria,” composed by choir member Ian McGrath at the 9:30 a.m. Mass. Boy Scout Troop 75 has two new Eagle Scouts. Jimmy Byrne and Andrew O’Buckley were bestowed with the honor with support from the parish community of St. Kevin, Flushing.

The Catholic Youth Organization of the diocese is hosting its annual Hall of Fame dinner dance in memory of Msgr. John Brown. It will be an evening of celebration with dinner and dancing on June 1, starting with 6 p.m. Mass at the Immaculate Conception Center, Douglaston. $125 tickets include cocktail hour, open bar, choice of three entrees and dessert. Auxiliary Bishop James Massa will be the main celebrant of the seventh annual Mass for Artists on May 21 at 7 p.m. at the Church of the Blessed Sacrament on West 71st St., just east of Broadway, in Manhattan. The Catholic Artists Society sponsors this Mass each year to invoke God’s blessings on all artists, that their hearts might be cleansed and their minds enlightened by the inpouring of the Holy Spirit.
