Bridgeport Bishop Frank Caggiano will be the keynote speaker as the diocese holds a Diaconate Convocation on Sunday, April 15, which will celebrate 40 years of the permanent diaconate in the Diocese of Brooklyn.
The session will be held at Immaculate Conception Center, Douglaston, beginning at 2 p.m. with daytime prayer.
Bishop Caggiano will speak at 2:30 p.m. to be followed by a discussion chaired by Ed Wilkinson, Editor of The Tablet. The panel will consist of Deacons Ramon Lima, Jean Baptiste Boursiquot, Leroy Branch and John Sucich.
At 4:30 p.m., vespers with Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio as the homilist will be held.
The schedule also includes recognition of deacons observing significant anniversaries and a dinner.
