Death of Bishop Thomas V. Daily

Bishop Thomas V. Daily, who served as the sixth Bishop of Brooklyn from 1990 to 2003, died May 15 at the Bishop Mugavero Residence, Douglaston. He was 90 years old. Only months before, the Bishop Thomas V. Daily Senior Citizens Apartments, a Catholic Charities project, were dedicated at the site of the former St. Joseph’s School, Prospect Heights.

Viewing of the bishop’s remains were held at the Immaculate Conception Center, Douglaston, and St. James Cathedral-Basilica, Downtown Brooklyn. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated in the chapel at the Immaculate Conception Center with burial following in the Bishops’ crypt there.
