The Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) hosted its annual girls’ volleyball diocesan championships Saturday, April 12 at Msgr. McClancy M.H.S., East Elmhurst.
The following teams captured their respective division titles in what was an exciting day of volleyball action:
In the subnovice division, Our Lady of the Snows, North Floral Park, won the title over Our Lady of Mount Carmel, Astoria.
St. Francis de Sales, Belle Harbor, won the novice division championship over Holy Child Jesus, Richmond Hill.
In the bantam division, Holy Child Jesus earned a championship victory over St. Francis of Assisi, Astoria.
The rookie division featured a win from Our Lady of the Snows over Holy Child Jesus.
It was Holy Child Jesus that earned the diocesan title over St. Mel, Flushing, in the intermediate division.
In the tyro division, St. Joseph, Astoria, won the championship with a win over St. Anselm, Bay Ridge.
Finally, the junior division pitted both teams from Our Lady of Mount Carmel against one another, with the “Red” team winning the diocesan title over the “Blue” team.
