Growing Faith and Nurturing Inquisitive Minds
The philosophy at Holy Angels Catholic Academy is simple: The academy is a place where inquisitive minds grow and faith is nurtured. The program follows guidelines set by New York State and the Diocese of Brooklyn.
Students’ creativity is unleashed and inspired through an appreciation of the arts, music and dance. Students in grades five through seven participate in dance classes through Ballroom Basix, an established program that teaches good manners, patience and tolerance, along with dance.
Students in grades four, six and eight are exposed to the basics of creative drama through Stages on the Sound’s Arts Residency Program. Students are also fortunate enough to enjoy after-school clubs, such as National Junior Honor Society, band, glee club, board games and the ever-so-popular Lego Club. At Holy Angels the learning and fun go well beyond the 3 p.m. dismissal bell.
The academy’s well-maintained building boasts two gymnasiums, an auditorium with a stage, a beautifully designed and air-conditioned cafeteria, schoolyard, and an early childhood motor skills center. Improvements have recently been made to upgrade security as well.
Holy Angels Catholic Academy is the future of Catholic school education and the academy prides itself on being the forerunner in the Bay Ridge area. The academy offers a full-day nursery and pre-kindergarten program. Students in these grades have the opportunity to visit the on-site early childhood motor skills center on a regular basis.
The academy keeps its technology center up-to-date with 27 computers, an iPad cart and SMART Boards in every classrooms. Teachers and students are provided with state-of-the-art technology and embrace the changes that will help students achieve success in elementary school and beyond.
This year, the junior high students in grades six, seven and eight are using individual Chromebooks both at home and in the classroom.
