Cristo Rey Brooklyn H.S., Flatbush, is so excited to be beginning a new school year. Since its founding seven years ago, it has strived to fulfill its goal to educate young people of limited economic means to become men and women of faith, purpose and service.
In that short period, it has realized tremendous growth and success: 100 percent college acceptance rates for every graduating class, record scholarships and grants, growth of extracurricular and athletic programs and a Corporate Work Study Program that ranks among the highest in the nation. All this is accomplished with a maximum family tuition contribution at Cristo Rey Brooklyn of $2,000, with many families paying less than $1,000 per year!
This is achieved primarily through the innovative Corporate Work Study Program in which students earn up to 50 percent of the cost of their own education working at some of New York’s most prestigious companies and organizations.
And for those girls whose home location is a lengthy commute and/or confront particularly difficult family circumstances, the school offers a unique, on-campus boarding program with Boys Hope Girls Hope of New York (BHGH). Up to 50 young women reside five days a week in a dorm on the Cristo Rey campus in a boarding program managed by BHGH and attend Cristo Rey Brooklyn.
Like Cristo Rey, BHGH was founded by the Society of Jesus. BHGH started out nearly 40 years ago and now operates in 13 U.S. cities and in Latin America. The organization is not only dedicated to ensuring that the girls receive the highest quality education, but also to creating a safe, secure and affordable living environment in which girls are enabled to take full advantage of the numerous opportunities offered to them at Cristo Rey Brooklyn. The expected family financial contribution for the residence program is in the same range as tuition for regular, day students.
