Jorge Dominiguez, the editor of Nuestra Voz, the diocesan Spanish monthly, is currently in Puerto Rico where he is getting a firsthand look at the destruction wrought by Hurricane Maria. His reports will be broadcast on NET-TV and will be printed in The Tablet next week.
Meanwhile, Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio was scheduled to join with the local Puerto Rican community in Brooklyn and Queens to celebrate Mass for all those affected by the storm that has devastated the Caribbean island. That liturgy was set for Friday, Oct. 20, at 7 p.m. at St. Joseph’s Co-Cathedral.
The Diocese, through Catholic Charities, has been collecting material goods that are needed on the island and is preparing to ship them there through the courtesy of JetBlue Airlines.
