Recently there has been a lot of clowning around at Sacred Heart School, Bayside. For the last few months, fourth and fifth grade students have been practicing various circus arts skills, culminating in performing their very own circus. Circus Arts is a fun and challenging aspect of physical education that enables students to develop a wide variety of manipulative skills, including juggling, plate spinning, diabolos and devil sticks.
On March 4, the students dressed up as clowns and put on a fantastic circus in front of fellow students, teachers and parents. “The students did an amazing job. I’m so proud of all their hard work,” said physical education teacher, Jackie Flynn. The circus also included the balancing feather, stilt walkers and various clown gags.
