The St. Edmund Prep, Sheepshead Bay, varsity softball team captured the first-ever ‘B’ Division city championship crown with a 14-3 victory over the previously unbeaten St. Catharine Academy, the Bronx.

The Lady Eagles relied on a variety of contributions, notably from Stephanie Samir, Nicole Quintana, Kellie O’Neill, Kayla Maiolo, Angelica Fox and Alicea Hernandez.

The team advanced to the city championship game after a win in the diocesan finals over St. Saviour, Park Slope.
