Charities and Vincentians Distribute Turkey Meals

Through a partnership with Fairway Markets, and with the help of volunteers and staff members, Catholic Charities Brooklyn and Queens (CCBQ) distributed 250 Thanksgiving meals to families and individuals in need, and the St. Vincent DePaul Society distributed 300 turkeys to 18 Brooklyn and Queens parishes.

At Catholic Charities, the turkeys were distributed evenly at CCBQ community centers in Brooklyn and Queens. An additional 50 turkeys were donated by the Knights of Columbus Council of Immaculate Conception parish, Astoria.

The turkey dinner fixings, provided by the Catholic Charities Food Pantry Network, included fresh potatoes, stuffing, gravy, corn muffin mix and cranberry sauce.

The St. Vincent DePaul Society provided 18 parishes with 20-30 turkeys each; these turkeys were distributed at Fairway Market, Red Hook.

Our Lady of Good Counsel, Bedford-Stuyvesant;
Our Lady of Light, St. Albans;
St. Francis of Assisi-St. Blaise, Crown Heights;
St. Peter Claver, Bedford-Stuyvesant;
St. Joan of Arc, Jackson Heights;
St. Pius V, Jamaica;
Incarnation, Queens Village;
St. Teresa, Woodside;
and
St. Benedict the Moor, Jamaica.
