WASHINGTON (CNS) – Sister Mary George O’Reilly, alumna and former president of Rosemont College in Pennsylvania, always wanted to help her school, even in hospice.
When the college’s current president, Sharon Hirsh, visited her bedside for one of the last times, Sister Mary George asked, “Is there anything I can do for the school?” She even offered to make phone calls.
“I found that absolutely amazing,” Hirsh told Catholic News Service. “Not surprising, but amazing.”
Sister Mary George, a member of the Society of the Holy Child Jesus, died of heart failure on March 10 at the age of 95, the Philadelphia Inquirer reported.
Friends say her dedication to Rosemont and its people is a legacy that will last forever.
