Walking into the Auschwitz concentration camp in Oswiecim, Poland, Stephanie Dalton of SS. Simon and Jude parish, Gravesend, felt a chill along her spine. She called it the spirit of those who died at the hands of Nazis over 70 years ago.

US Will Send Record Numbers to WYD

In a July 7 news conference, Bishop Frank Caggiano of Bridgeport, Conn., the U.S. Bishops’ episcopal liaison for World Youth Day, said that so far, there have been 30,000 fully registered U.S. pilgrims, including 85 bishops, and another 10,000 partially registered pilgrims still in need to finish the process.

Prayer, Service Help Queens’ Youth Prepare for WYD

Young people from St. Bartholomew Church, Elmhurst, spent a weekend retreat focused on being Christ to others in preparation for this year’s World Youth Day in Poland. The young adults – who are part of the 400 pilgrims from the Diocese of Brooklyn going to World Youth Day (WYD) in Krakow July 26-31 – are preparing their hearts through service and prayer.
