A Mass of Christian Burial for Father Charles B. Kehoe, a retired priest of the diocese, was celebrated Aug. 28 at St. Kevin’s Church, Flushing. He died Aug. 24 at L.I. Jewish Medical Center. He was 85.

John J. Hayes

John J. Hayes, 89, a daily communicant at St. Thomas More, Breezy Point where he served as a sexton, died Aug. 14. Before moving to Breezy Point full-time over 20 years ago, he had been a lifelong parishioner of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Dyker Heights.

Maryknoll Sister Jane Zawadzki M.M., died on Aug. 3, at the Maryknoll Sisters Center in Ossining, N.Y. She was 88 and she had been a Maryknoll Sister for 66 years.

Italian Cardinal Dionigi Tettamanzi, whom Pope Francis described as one of the Archdiocese of Milan’s “most illustrious sons and one of its most loving and beloved pastors,” died Aug. 5 at the age of 83.
