A former Brooklyn auxiliary bishop who went on to become the eighth bishop of the Diocese of St. Augustine, Fla., died Sept. 27, on the feast of St. Vincent de Paul. He was 93.
Sister Evamarie Gillcrist, O.P. – On Sept. 16, Sister Evamarie Gillcrist gave her adventuresome spirit to God in death. She was 95 and dedicated 78 years to religious life as a Sister of St. Dominic.
Father Phi Phu Ho, C.S.J.B., a priest of the Congregation of St. John the Baptist who was pastor of St. John Vianney, Flushing, died on Sept. 23 at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx. He was 53.
Sister Mary Josephine Keyes, C.S.J., formerly Sister Raymond de Sales, died on Aug. 28 at Maria Regina Residence in Brentwood, L.I.
Sister Rosemary Anne Kern, C.S.J., who taught CCD at several parishes in the Diocese of Brooklyn, died on Aug. 26, at Maria Regina Residence in Brentwood, L.I.
Sister Anne McKeon, G.N.S.H., who taught at two parish schools in Queens and served in another parish there, died on Aug. 29.
A member of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Brentwood for 73 years, died on Aug. 31 in St. Joseph Convent, Brentwood.
A retired priest of the Diocese of Brooklyn, died on Sept. 3 at his private residence in Sag Harbor, L.I. He was 89.
Sister Mavis Jewell, D.C., a native of Brooklyn who was a member of the Daughters of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul for 60 years, died Aug. 13 at the St. Louise House Residence in Albany, N.Y. She was 85.
Patricia McCormick, sister of Msgr. Joseph P. Nagle, a retired priest of the Diocese of Brooklyn, died on Aug. 27. Her funeral Mass was offered at St. Thomas More Church, Breezy Point, on Aug. 30. Burial followed at St. John Cemetery, Middle Village.
