Fr. Groeschel Was Noted Evangelizer and Pro-Lifer

TOTOWA, N.J. (CNS) – Father Benedict J. Groeschel, who was a founder of the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal, a leading pro-life figure and popular author, retreat master and preacher, died Oct. 3 at St. Joseph’s Home for the elderly in Totowa after a long illness. He was 81.

Msgr. Breen, Former Pastor And Professor, Dies at 82

A Mass of Christian Burial for Msgr. Edward J. Breen, pastor emeritus of Our Lady of Fatima, East Elmhurst, will be celebrated Saturday, Sept. 13, at the church. He died Sept. 8 at Bishop Mugavero Residence, Douglaston. He was 82.

Retired Cardinal Szoka Dies at the Age of 86

Cardinal Edmund C. Szoka, who rose from poor beginnings to reach the highest levels of service to the Church, died Aug. 20 at Providence Park Hospital in Novi, Mich. The cardinal, who was 86, died of natural causes.
