As Catholics across the world celebrated the holiest of holy days during Easter, the secular world intruded in so many ways to put blemishes on the day of Resurrection. 

The contents of the Gospel of Mark are traditionally traced to Peter, (meaning he was Mark’s source). John is attributed to John, and John is considered to be the “beloved disciple” and the “eyewitness” about whom we hear in the fourth Gospel.

Interestingly enough, the rubrics for the Mass of this Palm Sunday of the Lord’s Passion state the following: “After the narrative of the Passion, a brief homily should take place, if appropriate. A period of silence may also be observed.”

During the month of March, the secular world celebrates Women’s History Month. In a particular way, the world reflects on the important roles that women have made, and are making, in society.

In Rome, they have a great tradition of visiting Station Churches, which are churches in Rome that are appointed for special morning and evening liturgical celebrations during Lent. 

And so ends another Catholic Schools Week, with the Diocese of Brooklyn celebrating Catholic education within all its schools and academies. 

“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom” (2 Corinthians 3:17). Once again, another Black History Month has begun. The announced national theme for the 2024 observance is “African Americans and the Arts,” a focus on African, Caribbean, and African American experiences in film, music, literature, fashion, architecture, visual and performing arts, and other forms of cultural expression.
