‘Fake’ Priests Can Be Threats to Minors
Sometimes a priest isn’t the priest he seems to be! A few weeks ago, on these pages, we printed an “Alert from The Chancery” that warned about a “Father Jesus Barajas,” who claimed to be a priest from Colombia and from the Trinitarian Order. It was not the first time the Brooklyn Diocese had warned about Father Barajas. When the diocese investigated his credentials, it discovered that he never professed the final vows of the order and may never even have been ordained.
March for Life Was More Than a Numbers Game
The New York Times reported that “hundreds” of people showed up for the annual March for Life on Jan. 22 in the nation’s capital. The Washington Post was a little more generous by saying that “thousands” were there. The event’s organizers and participants estimated that there were actually about 50,000 brave souls who were present, despite the threat of one of the East Coast’s largest snowstorms ever, to demonstrate against the atrocity of abortion.
Little Sisters Are Wrong People to Pick On

Quickly, It Began to Feel Like Christmas
While Christmas seems to have sneaked up on us this year, it did make its presence felt in the waning days preceding the holiday.
No Tricks, Just Treats From Bright Christmas
I just finished reading a book titled “The Santa Claus Man: The Rise and Fall of a Jazz Age Con Man and the Invention of Christmas in New York.”
The author is Alex Palmer and the main subject is John Duvall Gluck, Jr., a distant relative of the author.
We Love Hearing from Our BC Supporters
Contributions to The Tablet’s Bright Christmas Campaign continue to flood our offices. So much so that our limited staff is working double time at getting the money into the bank so that we can distribute it to the priests, sisters and lay leaders who will assist the needy this Christmas. Contributors include an auxiliary bishop […]
Requests Keep Coming As Donations Arrive
As The Tablet’s Bright Christmas campaign breaks into full stride, I would like to tell you about two programs that will receive help from our drive. The first is Boys Hope Girls Hope of New York that conducts two residences in Brooklyn for teens attending Catholic high schools.
