Feast Day Blessings in Flushing For Renovated Church, School

Celebrating the feast day of its patron saint in style, St. Kevin’s, Flushing, welcomed Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio to bless the newly completed renovations to the church and school June 3. Joining the bishop on the altar were members of the priesthood ordination class of 2017, celebrating their one-year anniversary.

The Tablet All-Scholastic Team 2018

The Class of 2018 includes nearly 2,800 graduates from 18 Catholic high schools in Brooklyn and Queens. Each year, The Tablet recognizes one outstanding graduate from each school as a way of saluting that year’s entire class.

Franciscan from Queens Ordained to Priesthood

Franciscan friar Brother John Aherne, O.F.M., a member of the Holy Name Province, was ordained to the priesthood on June 23 at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Manhattan.

Cemetery Field Masses Observe Memorial Day

Auxiliary Bishop James Massa celebrated the Memorial Day Field Mass at St. Mary Star of the Sea Cemetery in Lawrence, L.I. A small congregation of 25 people attended the liturgy that was celebrated under a large white tent surrounded by headstones decorated with flowers and American flags.
