The three local Catholic colleges and universities have released their respective Fall 2020 reopening plans adhered to the safety guidelines provided by the State’s Department of Health and by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. As the number of days until the first day of classes dwindle, students have mixed feelings about the new semester during the age of COVID-19.

Brooklyn Catholic Church Burglarized: Collection Box Cut Open

The collection box of St. Thomas Aquinas Roman Catholic Church in PArk Slope was robbed late July 31. The incident, which is under investigation by the NYPD, was discovered around 4 p.m. Friday by a Franciscan nun who was sanitizing the church pews, the Diocese of Brooklyn said in a statement.

Our Lady of Mount Carmel Celebrates First Holy Communion

Fifty-one children from Our Lady of Mount Carmel’s CCD program celebrated their first Holy Communion on July 18. Two separate Masses, celebrated by Msgr. Sean G. Ogle, V.F., took place at the church in accordance with state and Diocesan safety guidelines.

Queens Parish Partners With AOC to Fight Hunger

In the spirit of 1 John 3:18, Catholic youth handed bags of nonperishable food to needy people in the parking lot of Our Lady of Sorrows Parish in Corona, Queens. And they didn’t do it alone. The other organizers were the staff of U.S. Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and the congresswoman herself.
