Public Housing Tenants in Coney Island Without Cooking Gas for 15 Months
A main gas line sprang a leak on Aug. 30, 2021, forcing the installation of new gas lines in the O’Dwyer Gardens and Surfside Gardens apartment complexes in Coney Island. Gas started to come back on line recently, following a $3.5 million repair project that took 15 months to complete. During that time, 376 residents had no cooking gas.
