Sacred Hearts-St. Stephen parish, Carroll Gardens, conducted its annual Good Friday procession, an Italian tradition that has been taking place in the predominantly Italian community for more than 60 years. At the end of the solemn walk, the statue of the Sorrowful Mother, above, met with a life-size replica of the Body of the crucified Jesus in front of the parish. Below, clergy, parishioners and procession participants, which included Italian women who recited the Rosary in their native tongue, gathered for the evening prayer service.
