It was announced in Rome on Tuesday, March 1, that Pope Francis has named Brooklyn priest, Father Cuong M. Pham, as a monsignor.

Reacting to the designation, Bishop Nicholas DiMarzio issued the following statement:

“It is with thanksgiving to Almighty God and in appreciation to our Holy Father, Pope Francis, we learn that the Reverend Cuong Pham, a priest of the Diocese of Brooklyn currently assigned as an official to the Pontifical Council for Legislative Texts, has received today the honor of being named among the Chaplains of His Holiness. Monsignor Pham was ordained to the Priesthood on June 2, 2001 by the Most Reverend Thomas V. Daily. In June of 2006, Monsignor Pham returned to Rome for post ordination studies. Following his studies, he began ministry in the Holy See at the Pontifical Council for Legislative Texts, a post he holds until today.”
