Blessings for Easter Breakfast

Easter2013_SFdCEastern Europeans throughout the diocese brought breakfast foods to their churches on Holy Saturday. Priests blessed the food baskets, which carried eggs, bread, sausage, cakes, butter and other goodies to be consumed on Easter morning. The assortments are usually symbolic in size and are eaten at the beginning of the breakfast feast. To the left, Canon Andrzej Kurowski, S.A.C., pastor of St. Frances de Chantal parish, Borough Park, blesses Easter baskets at the seventh blessing ceremony of the day.
