Father Robert Lauder attended Our Lady of Angels School, Bay Ridge; Xavier H.S., Manhattan; Cathedral College, Brooklyn; the Seminary of the Immaculate Conception, Huntington, L.I.; the Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., and Marquette University, Milwaukee, Wisc. He has a doctorate degree in philosophy.

In addition to St. John’s University, where he holds the rank of full professor, he has taught at Brooklyn College, Queens College, Princeton Theological Seminary, NYU and Cathedral College.

Author of 15 books, he is a weekly columnist for The Tablet and has written articles in The New York Times, America, and Commonweal.

His main academic interests are personalism and film. Since 1992, he has been conducting Friday Film Festivals at the Immaculate Conception Center in Douglaston and has shown more than 300 films, most of which are considered classics.

He discusses film, theatre, literature and painting in his book on Ingmar Bergman, “God, Death, Art and Love,” and another book, “Magnetized by God.” His most recent book, “Pope Francis’ Profound Personalism and Poverty,” was published by Resurrection Press.
