The second annual Shadow Box Film Fest – the world’s only all-boxing film festival – will take place Dec. 6-7 at the SVA Theatre on West 23rd Street in Manhattan.

When the worlds of film and boxing collide, it always makes for great drama. For decades, the movie industry has created legendary characters inspired by those who lace up the gloves and step into the ring like modern-day gladiators.

One of the characters to be showcased at the film fest will be two-time world welterweight champion Paulie Malignaggi, who stars in the film “Omerta: Act of Silence,” directed by Craig Tubiolo, the director of production and programming for the DeSales Media Group, the parent company of The Tablet.

The film is a story of a young man trying to avoid the lure of the Mafia. Its N.Y.C. premiere will be Saturday, Dec. 7 at 2 p.m. In total, the festival will showcase 24 boxing films, including 11 features. The fight related films getting their N.Y.C. premiere include:

“The Gentleman Prizefighter,” a documentary about James J. Corbett, directed by Andrew Gallimore, narrated by Liam Neeson

“Fight Like a Girl,” produced by the Emmy-nominated Tchavdar Georgiev, featuring, Jill Morley

“Boogaloo,” a work-in-progress documentary about Philly middleweight Bobby “Boogaloo” Watts, written and directed by Liam Mulvey

“Omerta,” directed by Craig Tubiolo, starring Paulie Malignaggi

“Broken,” written and directed by David Wendelman

“Return,” an animated short created and directed by Yahya Ghobadi

After the film fest in one of New York’s most anticipated matches, Malignaggi will square off against fellow Brooklynite Zab Judah at Barclays Center in Downtown Brooklyn in a bout that will be televised by Showtime.
