The second largest Columbus Day parade in the U.S. featured marching bands, cheerleaders, classic cars and, of course, the Knights of Columbus. This year’s Grand Marshals, pictured to the right, were Josephine Sportella-Giusto, principal of the Academy of Talented Scholars; Lenny Tillman of Lenco Diagnostic Laboratories; Luigi Rosabianca of Rosabianca & Associates; and Father Michael Gelfant, pastor of St. Finbar parish, Bath Beach. The day started off with a Mass celebrated by Father Gelfant at St. Athanasius Church, Bensonhurst. Then, parish groups and Catholic school students marched side-by-side with public school students and civic organizations down 18th Avenue in Brooklyn.
