Belief in Moral Absolutes

Dear Editor: I thought that what Pope John Paul II taught on capital punishment was most Christian in its explanation and application. Pope Francis found it necessary to make a drastic change by declaring that an action that was morally permissible under certain circumstances for 2,000 years in Church history, was now morally wrong “per se” under the same circumstances. That undermines my belief in moral absolutes.
