Gold Medal Ties Trace Back to McAuley HS

Phyllis Francis, a 2010 graduate of the now-closed Catherine McAuley H.S., East Flatbush, recently captured a gold medal in the women’s 4×400-meter relay at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Summer Olympic Games.

This summer marked the third time the Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) of Brooklyn and Queens hosted a summer basketball league.

Richardson Hitchins, a student at Science Skills H.S., Downtown Brooklyn, recently competed in men’s boxing at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, representing Haiti. He was one of 32 total boxers to fight in the men’s light welter 64-kg division.

Watch out Rio de Janeiro! There’s a storm brewing – not a typical storm, but instead a “red storm.” A contingent of former athletes and current coaches from St. John’s University, Jamaica, have made the trip to Rio to participate in the 2016 Summer Olympic Games.

Former Terriers Soccer Star Playing in Pros

Vincent Bezecourt, a 2016 graduate of St. Francis College, Brooklyn Heights, is currently playing his first season with the New York Red Bulls II of the United Soccer League. He recently scored his first two goals of his professional career in a 5-0 victory over the Harrisburg City Islanders.
