Austen Ivereigh writes about the papal apostolic visit, a journey that began in Santiago de Cuba and ended in Philadelphia.
Special Correspondent
Austen Ivereigh, the noted British writer, journalist, and commentator on religious and political affairs, is serving as a special correspondent for The Tablet during the papal journey to Cuba and the United States.
He holds a Ph.D. from Oxford University. His work appears regularly in the Jesuit magazine America and in many other periodicals. He is well known on British media, especially on the BBC, Sky, ITV and Al-Jazeera, as a Catholic commentator.
His first contribution was filed from Havana. Last spring he was the keynote speaker at the World Communications Day hosted by DeSales Media Group, in Brooklyn. During the papal trip, he also appeared on NET-TV’s live coverage from Cuba and in the cities visited by Pope Francis in the U.S.
Contemporary Cuba Is Land of Contradictions
Austen Ivereigh writes that Cuba is a nation in transition, caught between a past that is no longer tenable and a new future that many fear as much as desire.
