Five men from the Brooklyn Diocese were among the 16 ordained to the transitional diaconate on Nov. 7 by Rockville Centre Bishop William Murphy at St. Joseph’s Seminary, Dunwoodie. They are: Deacons Ralph Edel, Ambriox Osorio, Uriri Melchizedek Okrokoto,  Marcial Thomas and Mark Bristol. The group was part of the first class to begin its theological training at St. Joseph’s under the Interdiocesan Partnership for Spiritual and Religious Formation.  The new transitional deacons are scheduled for priestly ordination in June, 2016. In the meantime, they will finish their seminary studies and serve on weekends in assigned parishes in Brooklyn and Queens.
