An Epiphany at St. Sebastian

St. Sebastian parish, Woodside, hosted a very special Three Kings’ Feast on Jan 6. After celebrating Holy Communion together, parishioners, especially those with children, were invited to the parish auditorium for games and refreshments. The children received a special visit from the Three Kings, played by the parish priests: Father Kevin Abels, pastor, Father Rodnev Lapommeray and Father Henry Torres. The Kings gave out presents to the children donated by the 108th Precinct of the New York Police Department. The parish and the precinct work together to bridge the gap and do away with the fear that exists between law enforcement and the community. The Epiphany celebration was a step toward that goal as children saw police officers not as outsiders looking in, but rather as part of their community.
