An Easter Message

Dear Editor: Recalling an Easter Message from an Oracle.

In a 2015 Easter broadcast, the British Prime Minister traced the part Christianity plays in British national life. He described the church as a living active force.

This, he explained, is the reason for government’s huge investment in the renovation of churches/cathedrals and support for laws authorizing prayers at Town Hall meetings. He added that during disasters/emergencies, the Church is always there for the people. He decried current global persecution of Christians and pledged to continue the defense of religious freedom.

The message is a far cry from what we hear from our U.S. Christian politicians. Even contemporary Christians support such noxious topics as pro-choice, assisted suicide, death penalty, Obamacare accommodations, banning of prayers in public places, etc., so as not to offend the vocal minority.

For similar reasons, some preachers fail to condemn social vices. We feign pacifism while our faith is being trampled. This posture calls for our reflection during this Lenten/Easter period.

Mr. Cameron spoke like an oracle and his message still resonates today. Let’s not downplay the rich heritage of our faith. If we fail to listen to him and maintain conspiratorial silence, even lifeless stones will speak out. (Luke 19:40)

This video message of Mr. Cameron is currently available on Facebook.
